Attached for your review and approval, please find a resolution approving Amendment No. 1 to the professional services agreement for engineering services with Wade Trim, Inc. (Wade Trim) for the Village Oaks - Chaucer Court Drainage Area Study in the amount of $13,000.00.

During certain storm events, the area between the west boundary of the Village Oaks Subdivision and the east boundary of the Landsdowne Subdivision near Chaucer Court has experienced backyard flooding and occurrences of basement flooding. Reports of flooding in this area date back to the 1980’s. A relief sewer was constructed in 1991 to address flooding issues in this area, but flooding problems have persisted. Working collaboratively with the local residents, a Request for Proposals was issued for engineering services to evaluate the watershed and make recommendations for improvements. The city received proposals from nine consulting engineering firms for the requested study. A selection committee comprised of city staff and representatives from the Village Oaks-Chaucer Court neighborhoods chose Wade Trim for this project.

On October 18, 2010, City Council approved Resolution R-10-365 to award a professional services agreement with Wade Trim for this project in the amount of $54,991.00 and contingency in the amount of $5,500.00 for a total project budget of $60,491.00 for this project.

Amendment No. 1 will increase the total amount of the professional services agreement to $67,991.00. Funding for this amendment will come from the contingency line item ($5,500) in the previously approved project budget and an additional $7,500.00 from the approved Stormwater Capital Budget.
