Title
Resolution Directing the City Administrator to Provide City Council a Monthly Risk Fund Claims Review Report
Memorandum
At staff's recommendation, City Council approved Ord-23-09 repealing Section 1:193 of Chapter 8 (Organization of Boards and Commissions) of Title I of the Code of the City of Ann Arbor eliminating the Board of Insurance Administration and amending Chapter 11 (Risk Fund) to make administration of the Risk Fund the responsibility of the City Administrator or their designee. These changes will provide operational and administrative improvements for the administration of the City's Risk Fund and associated claims process, insurance, and benefits functions.

With the elimination of the Board of Insurance Administration, the City Administrator will continue to regularly review claims filed against the City with the assistance of staff, consultants, and the City Attorney's Office. City Council desires to continue to receive basic information about the City's administrative claims review process and results like that contained in the minutes of the Board of Insurance Administration reported monthly on a City Council agenda. A monthly Risk Fund claims review report summarizing the nature of claims reviewed and the results, specifically including the amounts of approved claims not requiring Council approval would meet this request.
