Memorandum
Attached for your consideration is a request from the Regents of the University of Michigan to close Washington Street between Fletcher and Thayer for the University of Michigan Presidential Inauguration Public Reception on from 6:00 AM on Monday, March 6 until 8:00 PM on Wednesday, March 8, 2023. The Inauguration itself will occur on Tuesday, March 7, 2023, with additional time to be used for set-up and take-down and other inaugural activities.
The applicant agrees to obtain all necessary permits, to provide evidence of proper liability insurance as required, to comply with all City regulations governing the use of the street and will reimburse the City for all event expenses.
Notification of the street closing will be provided through the University of Michigan's Communications Office, as well as the City of Ann Arbor’s website and GovDelivery.
The event has been coordinated with all relevant City service areas for the purposes of traffic control and for the protection of the health and safety of the participants and the general public.

Whereas, The City received a request from the Regents of the University of Michigan to close Washington Street between Fletcher and Thayer for the University of Michigan Presidential Inauguration Public Reception from 6:00 AM on Monday, March 6, 2023 until 8:00 PM on Wednesday, March 8, 2023;
Whereas, The street closure will be properly signed, barricaded and supervised by the applicant; and
Whereas, The applicant agrees to obtain all necessary permits, to provide evidence of proper liability insurance as required, to comply with all City regulations governing the use of the street and will reimburse the City for all event expenses;
RESOLVED, That City Council approve the closing of Washington Street between Fletcher and Thayer for the University of Michigan Presidential Inauguration Public Reception from 6:00 AM on Monday, March 6, 2023 until 8:00 PM on Wednesday, March 8, 2023.
