Memorandum
Attached for your review and action is a resolution to approve contracts with Landscape Architecture, Architecture and Engineering firms determined to be qualified to provide design services for capital improvements and renovation projects for Parks and Recreation Services. Funding for these contracts is included in the Park Rehabilitation and Development Millage, Park Repair and Restoration Millage, and Park Maintenance and Capital Improvements Millage.

Statements of Qualifications were requested from professional landscape architecture, architecture and engineering firms who have familiarity with the Ann Arbor area and have experience in design and engineering of parks and recreation facilities, master planning, and project management. To be “qualified” to perform, firms must demonstrate experience in working with municipalities, substantial public involvement, and specific needs associated with recreation facilities. Twenty-two firms submitted statement of qualifications, and after review and interviews, four firms were selected to provide competitive quotations on various design requests in connection with the City of Ann Arbor parks system improvements.

This process is being implemented to create efficiencies and streamline the process of choosing consultants for a variety of park design projects.
