Resolution to Approve a Purchase Order with Amerinet for Network Switches ($373,405.00)
Memorandum
The attached resolution seeks authorization to purchase network switches and related connector equipment from Amerinet to upgrade and add to the City's data communication infrastructure.

The upgraded equipment will replace the existing data network switch infrastructure supporting the Ann Arbor Police Department and 15th District Court, and the additional equipment provides the necessary network infrastructure to support the additional performance, power and data requirements of the Ann Arbor Municipal Center. In addition, the Information Technology Service Unit is upgrading its core datacenter distribution network.

All of this equipment will be located in the new Municipal Center building.

Invitation to Bid ITB-4112 for Extreme Network Switches and Misc. Parts was issued in late July and two competitive proposals were received by the Purchasing Service Unit on August 6, 2010. Amerinet was the lowest responsible bidder.

Amerinet @ $373,405.00
Telesource Services, LLC @ $390,746.00

Amerinet received Human Rights approval on August 6, 2010.

Funding for the Project is allocated as follows:
· $282,797.00 for the network upgrade and replacement component of this request is planned for and budgeted in the FY2011 Information Technology Services Unit budget
· $90,608.00 is planned and budged for in the City’s General Fund.

We recommend that the attached resolution for the purchase of network switches and related components from Amerinet in the amount of $373,405.00 be approved.
