Memorandum
We recommend your approval of the attached resolution authorizing the purchase of a five thousand gallon fuel storage tank with integrated fuel dispenser that is compatible with E-85 (85% ethanol and 15% gasoline) fuel. This unit will be installed at 2000 S. Industrial to be used by all City vehicles that are E-85 compatible. Installing this fueling station will help the City of Ann Arbor meet the Green Energy Challenge of 30% renewable energy by 2010, as set forth in resolution # R-172-5-06 approved May 1, 2006.

On October 15, 2007 City Council approved resolution # R-07-502 accepting grant funds from the Michigan Department of Transportation for the City of Ann Arbor to sponsor the Clean Energy Coalition to install biofuel pumps in Washtenaw County. The grant will pay $47,288.00 of the cost with the remaining $14,792.00 coming from the fiscal year 2009 Fleet and Facility budget.

Requests for bids where posted online and three qualified bids were received and are listed below.

Phoenix Environmental - $64,915.00
Oscar W. Larson Company - $62,080.00

Oscar W. Larson Company received Human Rights and Living Wage approval on January 15, 2009.
