This resolution supports International Transgender Day of Visibility, which is honored annually on March 31 and is a time to celebrate transgender people around the globe.

Whereas, Ann Arbor is a community that promotes the principles of diversity, multiculturalism, and inclusion, firm in the knowledge that our community is stronger when we are together, when every single resident knows that they are valued, respected, and welcome;
Whereas, Ann Arbor has a long history of leadership in the protection of the human rights of its residents;
Whereas, The City of Ann Arbor protects transgender youth and adults on the basis of gender identity and gender expression in the city’s non-discrimination ordinance; and
Whereas, International Transgender Day of Visibility is honored every year on March 31 and is a time to celebrate transgender people around the globe and the courage it takes to live openly and authentically, while also raising awareness around the irrational and unjust discrimination trans people still face.
RESOLVED, That the City of Ann Arbor will, with pride, fly the transgender flag in support of International Transgender Day of Visibility on March 31 at Larcom City Hall.
