Resolution to Amend the Local Streets Fund FY18 Budget by Appropriating Funds from Fund Balance and to Approve the Purchase of One John Deere Motor Grader with Related Attachments from AIS Construction Equipment Corp. (MiDeal - $296,428.82) (8 Votes Required)
Memorandum
The attached resolution authorizes the purchase of one John Deere Model 622G motor grader with material interruption system ($280,338.82) and a 12’ front vee plow ($16,090.00), for a total cost of $296,428.82 through the State of Michigan MiDeal cooperative purchasing contract #071B7700090 for use by the Public Services Area, Public Works Unit.
The motor grader listed in this resolution will replace an existing 1999 Caterpillar motor grader (#1888) with 6,876 hours of use. The Public Works Unit uses this grader in its streets maintenance operations for gravel road maintenance throughout the City. In addition, the grader is used to maintain the many gravel parking lots/park roads in the City and to plow snow during the wintertime.
AIS Construction Equipment Corp., New Hudson, Michigan was awarded contract #071B7700090 by the State of Michigan MiDeal cooperative purchasing program for Construction Equipment.
Adequate funding for the purchase of this equipment has been budgeted in the Fleet Services Fund FY18 budget and the available Local Street fund balance.
AIS Construction Equipment Corp. complies with the requirements of the City’s conflict of interest and non-discrimination ordinances.

Whereas, The Fleet & Facilities Unit needs to purchase a replacement motor grader and attachments;
Whereas, Competitive bids were received by the State of Michigan MiDeal cooperative purchasing program;
Whereas, AIS Construction Equipment Corp., New Hudson, MI, received the contract for Construction Equipment;
Whereas, AIS Construction Equipment Corp. complies with the requirements of the City’s Conflict of Interest and Non-Discrimination Ordinances; and
Whereas, Adequate funds for the purchase of this equipment in the amount of $229,163.00 are available in the FY 18 approved Fleet Services Fund and in the amount of $67,265.82 are available from the Local Street fund balance;
RESOLVED, That the City Council approve an appropriation of $67,265.82 from the Local Street fund balance; thereby, increasing the Local Street Fund revenue and expenditure budget;
RESOLVED, That the City Council approves the issuance of a purchase order to AIS Construction Equipment Corp. for one John Deere Model 622G motor grader and related attachments for a total amount of $296,428.82;
RESOLVED, That funds for the purchase of this equipment are to be available without regard to fiscal year;
RESOLVED, That the equipment being replaced (no. 1888) be sold at the next City vehicle auction held after the equipment is removed from service; and
RESOLVED, That the City Administrator be authorized to take the necessary actions to implement this resolution.
