Title
Resolution to Approve a Contract with Amerinet to Upgrade City's Network Switches - Bid No. 3913 ($202,480.00)
Memorandum
The attached resolution seeks authorization to purchase fifty-six (56) network edge switches and related connector equipment from Amerinet to upgrade and replace the City's "edge of network" data communication infrastructure. This upgrade will replace the existing 6-8 year old switch infrastructure, and will allow the City to support the performance and power requirements of the upcoming voice-over-IP phone system.  The upgrade will also provide the bandwidth and processing capacity for anticipated future growth in networked applications and services.

Competitive proposals were received by the Purchasing Unit on May 9, 2008.  The bid tabulation is attached.  Amerinet received Human Rights approval on October 24, 2007.

The project and funding for the edge component of the Network Infrastructure Upgrade project are budgeted in the FY2008 Information Technology Services Unit budget.

We recommend that the attached resolution for the purchase of network switches and related components from Amerinet in the amount of $202,480.00 be approved.
