Title
Resolution to Approve the Purchase of a Prisoner Transport Vehicle from Sirchie Finger Print Laboratories (Bid # 3933, $36,400.00) (8 Votes Required)
Memorandum
The attached resolution authorizes the purchase of one 2008 Ford E-250 van configured for prisoner transport for the total amount of $36,400.00 from Sirchie Finger Print Laboratories, Medford, New Jersey.

This vehicle will replace a 2000 prisoner transport van that has reached the 6-year age limit.  The City's labor contracts with the Ann Arbor Police Officers Association and the Ann Arbor Police Supervisors require that vehicles used by their members will not be driven more than 80,000 miles or 6 years, whichever comes first.

The Fleet and Facilities Unit reviewed the response to bid # 3933 and found Sirchie Finger Print Laboratories the lowest responsible bidder.  Results of the bid are listed below.

Sirchie Finger Print Laboratories             $36,400.00
Varsity Ford                              $37,452.00
Signature Ford                        $37,921.00
Bill Wink Chevrolet                        $38,987.00

The estimated delivery of this unit is 65-90 days after receipt of the purchase order which may push delivery of the new unit past July 1, 2008.  We are therefore requesting permission to carry the funds for the purchase to next fiscal year if necessary.

Sirchie Finger Print Laboratories received Human Rights approval on April 2, 2008.
