Resolution to Approve Street Closures for the City of Ann Arbor Bicentennial Event on July 3, 2024

Attached for your approval is a Resolution to approve the closure of streets for the City of Ann Arbor Bicentennial Event. This request is for street closures to occur on Tuesday, July 2, 2024 from 8:00 AM until Wednesday, July 3, 2024 at 2:00 PM. This event will be another in the City’s ongoing Bicentennial Celebration inviting the community to come together to join in festivities acknowledging the history of the City with the backdrop of a number of iconic downtown Ann Arbor businesses. The actual event will occur on July 3, 2024 with the additional time to be used for set-up and breakdown. The streets will open up as soon as safely possible.
The following streets are requested for closure:
• West Washington Street from South First Street to South Main Street
• South Ashley Street from West Washington Street to West William Street
• West Liberty Street from South First Street to South Main Street
• West William Street from South First Street to South Main Street
Barricades will be placed in positions that will allow the outer perimeter of the street closures to be open to traffic.

Whereas, The City of Ann Arbor continues to celebrate its Bicentennial;
Whereas, The City will host a bicentennial event as part of the celebration; and
Whereas, The following streets will need to be closed from Tuesday, July 2, 2024 from 8:00 AM until Wednesday, July 3, 2024 at 2:00 PM;
• West Washington Street from South First Street to South Main Street
• South Ashley Street from West Washington Street to West William Street
• West Liberty Street from South First Street to South Main Street
• West William Street from South First Street to South Main Street; and
Whereas, The streets will re-open as soon as safely possible;
RESOLVED, That City Council approve the closure of the following streets from Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at 8:00 AM until Wednesday, July 3, 2024 at 2:00 PM:
• West Washington Street from South First Street to South Main Street
• South Ashley Street from West Washington Street to West William Street
• West Liberty Street from South First Street to South Main Street
• West William Street from South First Street to South Main Street
