Ann Arbor Summer Festival - Notification of Nomination of Trustee on Behalf of the City

Memorandum

On June 3, 2026 the City Clerk’s Office received notification of the following nomination to the Ann Arbor Summer Festival Board of Trustees:

Election to First Term (three-years) beginning September 2026: Emily Bertsche

Under section 4.02 of their bylaws, half of the Ann Arbor Summer Festival Board of Trustees are subject to approval by the City and half are subject to approval by the University of Michigan. The Board nominates Trustees on behalf of the City and University respectively. The City and University then have the opportunity to object to their respective candidates within 90 days after receipt of the nomination. If an objection is made, the Board must nominate a new candidate and follow the same procedure until a nominee is accepted without objection.

If City Council has no objection, City Council may either approve the nominations by resolution or take no action and allow the 90 days to elapse - in either case, the nominees proceed to appointment by the Board.

No action will be taken on this matter unless requested by City Council.
