An Ordinance to Amend Sections 2:1 and 2:2 of Chapter 26 (Solid Waste Management) of Title II (Utilities and Services) of the Code of the City of Ann Arbor (ORD-26-14)
Memorandum
These proposed amendments to Chapter 26 correct small oversights from the more robust update to the ordinance approved in December 2025, which brought code into alignment with current practices and requirements. Notably, this proposed amendment updates the definition of “Compostables,” and adds a new definition for “Residential Customer” that had been unintentionally omitted from the December update. This definition was originally in the Solid Waste Regulations and was intended to be included instead within Chapter 26. This proposed amendment also updates the requirements for Solid Waste Containers and points of collection. This amended ordinance will also require minor updates to the Solid Waste Regulations to ensure uniformity between Chapter 26 and the Solid Waste Regulations.
