CALL TO ORDER

Chair L. Keeler called the electronic meeting of the Commission on

Disability Issues to order at 4:02 P.M.

APPROVAL OF AGENDA

A motion was made by Damon, seconded by Packard, that the

Agenda be approved as presented. On a voice vote, the Chair

declared the motion carried.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Commission on Disability Issues Minutes - May 20, 2026

A motion was made by Damon, seconded by Mozak, that the

Minutes be Approved by the Commission and forwarded to the City

Council and should be returned by 7/6/2026.On a voice vote, the

Chair declared the motion carried.

CITY PERSONNEL REPORT - KENNEDI CUMMINGS

Kennedi Cummings reported that there is no city personnel report or

updates at this time.

CITY COUNCIL UPDATE - AYESHA GHAZI EDWIN

Council Member Ayesha Ghazi-Edwin was not present to provide an

update to the commission. Council Member Ayesha Ghazi-Edwin shared

that bicentennial park (formerly south east area park) is officially open.

The park has the City’s first universally designed splash pad accessible

for people with disabilities. All are welcome to visit the park.

CITY ADA ACCESSIBILITY COORDINATOR REPORT - JENNA TRUONG

ADA Coordinator Jenna Truong provided the commission with a report

on the Office of Organizational Equity various efforts to ensure ADA

compliance. Jenna Truong reported on her first year as the ADA

Coordinator and shared updates several projects and initiatives

completed by the Office of Organizational Equity. Commissioners were

also provided with the FY26Q3 Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Report.

PARTNERS IN ACCESS - ROB PACKARD

Commissioner Packard reported that the sub-committee did not meet

last week. The sub-committee will meet again in September.

Commissioner Packard also reported that the commissions Facebook

page has also been created. The link to the Facebook page will be

shared with the entire commission. Those who are interested in

participating, or leading a committee can contact Chair Keeler.

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT - RACHEL HAWKINS

Commissioner Hawkins was not present to provide a report to the

commission. Commissioner Mozak did share that currently the Ann

Arbor inclusive the show has no upcoming scheduled taping. If

commissioners have any suggestions for guest on the Ann Arbor

inclusive the show to contact CTN.

RECRUITING ACTIVITY - KATHLEEN MOZAK

Commissioner Mozak shared that the commissions candidate did move

forward in the process to become a commissioner. More details and

information to come. The commission currently has 2 vacancies but will

have only 1 vacancy left once the candidate is approved by City Council.

TRANSPORTATION COMMISSION UPDATE - LARRY KEELER

Chair Keeler reported that the Transportation Commission did meet last

month. Chair Keeler shared that the commission discussed current

construction projects around the City that are almost completed and

additional projects to come in the future. Chair Keeler also reported that

the Transportation Commission talked about different parking issues

around the City and the new bike lanes being added in Downtown Ann

Arbor. More information and details to come. The Transportation

Commission is meeting tonight at 7:00pm and the meeting will be live on

CTN.

U OF M COUNCIL FOR DISABILITY CONCERNS MEETING UPDATE - MATTHEW

SOLOMON

Commissioner Solomon reported that he did not attend the University of

Michigan Council for Disability Concerns meeting this month but will plan

to attend the upcoming July meeting.

CHAIR REPORT - LARRY KEELER

Chair Keeler informed the commission that the project to remove the

stairs on 3rd street has been completed. Chair Keeler shared that he

visited the location himself and can confirm that the stairs are removed.

Chair Keeler shared that the VISIONS 2026 tabling event went very well.

Various commissioners volunteered to represent the commission at

event. The event was held at the Downtown Ann Arbor District Library

branch. and a lot of people attended the event.

Chair Keeler reported that the commission has been approached to

create a potential partnership with the University of Michigan CURIS:

Public Health Advocacy. Chair Keeler shared that he and Vice Chair

Damon will meet with the organization over the summer to see if a

partnership with the group would be beneficial. More information and

details to come.

Chair Keeler reminded commissioners to review the current commission

bylaws. This is specifically in situations where the commission has

elections and no Commissioner nominates themselves for either the

Chair or Vice Chair position. Commissioners provided their thoughts and

feedback on current language. The commission will have an additional

discussion on the bylaw changes after the summer recess.

Packard moved to adjourn the meeting, seconded by Mozak that the

meeting adjourned at 5:02 P.M.
