Title
Resolution to Approve a Contract with ABC Paving Company to Renovate the Tennis Courts at West Park, ITB No 4144 ($216,331.50)
Memorandum
Attached for your review and action is a revised resolution to approve a $216,331.50 contract with ABC Paving Company to renovate the tennis courts at West Park.

The tennis courts, constructed in the 1970’s, need to be replaced because of cracking asphalt, deteriorated fencing, and a failing retaining wall. This project would replace the asphalt, fencing, retaining wall, shuffleboard court, entry walk and include repairs to a second existing retaining wall. These tennis courts are some of the more heavily used in the park system. The configuration of the courts will remain the same.

A contract for this project was originally approved by City Council on July 5, 2011 in the amount of $166,331.50 but this contained a typographical error. The correct amount of the contract is in fact $216,331.50.

A 10% construction contingency is included to cover potential contract change orders to be approved by the City Administrator. It is requested that a $237,964.65 contract and contingency amount be approved for the life of the project without regard to fiscal year. Funding is available in the approved FY 2012 Park Maintenance and Capital Improvements Millage.

ABC Paving Company meets the living wage and prevailing wage requirements and received Human Rights approval on May 31, 2011.
