Resolution Authorizing Summary Publication of Ordinance No. ORD-11-10, Technical Amendments to Chapter 18, Employees Retirement System, Title I of the Code of the City of Ann Arbor
Memorandum
The attached resolution authorizes the summary publication of Ordinance No. ORD-11-10 which adopts various technical corrections to Chapter 18, Employee Retirement System, of Title I of the Code of the City of Ann Arbor

On January 18, 2011, City Council passed Ordinance No. ORD-11-01 which repealed and replaced Chapter 18, Employee Retirement System, of Title I of the Code of the City of Ann Arbor in its Entirety and added a New Chapter 18, Employee Retirement System, of Title I of said Code. After adoption and publication of ORD-11-01, City staff identified several technical corrections to the ordinance as printed in the Code of Ordinances (e.g. erroneous cross-references, numbering sequencing) as well as appropriate insertion of references for clarity. In addition, the following technical text amendments were included in the technical amendments: (i) amendment of the text of Section 1:552(19), Final Average Compensation, to reflects recognized past administrative practice in determining a Member’s FAC, and (ii) corrective amendment of Section 1:564(4), which should have been but was inadvertently not carries forward into the text of ORD-11-01.

The City Charter contains provisions to allow summary publications of ordinances that are in excess of 500 words in length. The purpose of this resolution is to lessen the City’s cost resulting from the required publication of the revisions to the City Code.
