Title
Resolution to Approve the Purchase of Meter Transmitting Units from Aclara RF Systems, Inc. ($75,000.00)
Memorandum
Attached is a resolution to authorize a purchase order in the amount of $75,000.00 to Aclara RF Systems, Inc. Aclara RF Systems, Inc., is the manufacturer of the meter transmitting units (MTU’s) used in the city’s meters and our sole source supplier. The previous purchase order was with Elster AMCO Water, Inc., but they no longer have the distributorship for Michigan so we are now able to purchase directly from the manufacturer.

The Aclara RF Systems, Inc., MTU’s make up our entire inventory for these types of meters. The MTU’s will be used for the operations and maintenance requirements for new meter accounts or to replace non-warranty meters. The purchase order will also allow us to have a modest meter inventory for operations and maintenance purposes.

Sufficient funds are available in the approved FY 2011 and FY 2012, Public Services Area, Field Operations Unit, Water Supply System ($50,000.00) and Sewage Disposal System ($25,000.00) operating budgets. Aclara RF Systems, Inc., received Contract Compliance approval on May 17, 2011.
