Memorandum

The attached resolution is contingent upon Council approval of Ordinance 23-38 at second reading on January 22, 2024. The City Charter allows summary publication of ordinances that are in excess of 500 words in length upon approval by City Council. Summary publication is appropriate due to the cost of publication and length of the ordinance. The ordinance will also be available publicly online.

RESOLVED, That the publication of Ordinance 23-38 shall be made by the following summary: 

 

Ordinance 23-38 amends Section 5.16.6.O of the Unified Development Code to facilitate installing a personal scale solar energy system (“SES”) as an accessory structure in single-family and two-family residential districts. These amendments will allow personal scale SES in front yards up to ten feet from the front lot line and will not count personal scale SES in rear setback lot coverage limitations. 

 

The effective date of Ordinance 23-38 is 10 days after publication. A complete text of this ordinance is available for inspection at the City Clerk’s office on the second floor of the Guy C. Larcom Municipal Building, 301 East Huron Street, Ann Arbor or at <http://www.a2gov.org>
