Memorandum
The attached resolution is contingent upon Council approval of Ordinance 23-37 at second reading on February 20, 2024. The City Charter allows summary publication of ordinances that are in excess of 500 words in length upon approval by City Council. Summary publication is appropriate due to the cost of publication and length of the ordinance. The ordinance will also be available publicly online.

RESOLVED, That the publication of Ordinance 23-37 shall be made by the following summary:

Ordinance 23-37 defines and permits Banquet Halls as a primary use in mixed-use zoning districts. Other amendments are included to better align the permitted uses in the O district with mixed-use districts. These include: allowing fraternity/sorority, student cooperative housing, club headquarter, community center, religious assembly, private [K-12] schools and indoor recreation as primary uses in the O district; separating veterinary offices from veterinary, kennels and animal boarding, allowing veterinary offices as primary uses in mixed-use districts and continuing kennels and animal boarding as currently permitted; and allowing trade/industrial schools as primary uses in the O district. Ordinance 23-37 amends Table 5.15-1 in Section 5.15.1, Table 5.15-2 in Section 5.15.2, Section 5.16.3.M, and Section 5.37.2.
