Resolution to Approve Additional Street Closure for the Townie Party-Ann Arbor Mile on Sunday, July 16, 2023 from 8:00 AM until 12:00 Noon
Memorandum
Submitted for your consideration is a request from the Ann Arbor Street Art Fair to close Thayer Street from Washington to North University to accommodate additional space needed for the Townie Party and Ann Arbor Mile. These events were previously approved on May 15, 2023 at R-23-151. Access to the Thayer Street Parking Structure will remain. This closure will be in place concurrently with the Art Fair street closures.
Notification of the additional street closing will be provided through the City’s website, GovDelivery and sponsor website.

Whereas, The City received a request the Ann Arbor Street Art Fair to request an additional street closure for the Townie Party-Ann Arbor Mile on Sunday, July 16, 2023 from 8:00 AM until 12:00 Noon and through the Art Fair;
Whereas, The street closure will be properly signed, barricaded and supervised by the sponsor;
Whereas, The sponsor agrees to obtain all necessary permits, to provide evidence of proper liability insurance as required, to comply with all City regulations governing the use of the street and will reimburse the City for all event expenses; and
Whereas, Notification of the street closing will be provided through the City’s website, GovDelivery and the Ann Arbor Street Art Fair website;
RESOLVED, That City Council approve the additional closing of Thayer Street between Washington and North University as part of the previously approved street closure request for the Ann Arbor Townie Party and Ann Arbor Mile.
