Resolution to Dissolve the Council of the Commons
Body
Whereas, City Council established the Council of the Commons on October 5th, 2020, (Resolution R-20-397) and restated its purposes and membership on February 1, 2021 (Resolution R-21-044);
Whereas, The Council of the Commons’ purpose has been to advise City Council and the City Administrator on matters related to the Center of the City;
Whereas, Since its establishment, the Council of the Commons has:
• Completed thorough research into other communities’ central plazas;
• Engaged with businesses, residents, and stakeholders considered to be Center of the City block partners to receive feedback and direction;
• Coordinated with PAC on activities and ideas;
• Provided ample information on which the evaluation of the feasibility and vitality of a central plaza on the Center of the City site can be conducted by City staff and City Council; and
Whereas, The Council of the Commons recommended its dissolution at its May 4, 2023 meeting;
RESOLVED, That City Council hereby dissolves the Council of Commons, effective on the date this resolution is passed;
RESOLVED, That the Park Advisory Commission advise City Council and the City Administrator on matters relating to the Center of the City going forward; and
RESOLVED, That City Council expresses its gratitude to the past and present members of the Council of the Commons for their time and efforts.
