Resolution to Review and Approve the Ann Arbor Housing Commission By-Laws and Adopt the FY 24 Housing Commission Calendar

Memorandum

The Ann Arbor Housing Commission’s by-laws state that an Annual Meeting will be held in May of each year to review and approve the by-laws, adopt a meeting calendar and elect board members.

The Housing Commission’s fiscal year begins July 1st and ends June 30th of each year; and the Commission meets monthly to discuss Agency business. The by-laws indicate that the Board will meet on the 3^rd Wednesday of the month. Finance staff are requesting that the Board meet on the 4^th Wednesday when the 3^rd Wednesday of the month occurs early in the month, to allow sufficient time to get the financials completed each month. The attached schedule shows the AAHC board meeting on the 4^th Wednesday in February and March 2024.

Attached is the proposed meeting schedule for the Ann Arbor Housing Commission Board Calendar for FY 24 (July 1, 2023 to June 30, 2024). To support Diversity, Equity and Inclusion DEI, the City Calendar was consulted to make sure the meetings are not on any major religious holidays.

Staff do not have any recommended changes to the By-Laws.

WHEREAS, the Commission meets monthly to discuss Agency business; and

RESOLVED, that the Ann Arbor Housing Commission Board has reviewed its by-laws to ensure Diversity, Equity and Inclusion is incorporated into the board’s purpose, mission and AAHC programs and the board approves its by-laws; and

RESOLVED, the Ann Arbor Housing Commission Board will meet on the 3rd Wednesday of the month, (except for February and March 2024) and adopts the attached meeting schedule for FY24 (July 1, 2023 to June 30, 2024).
