Resolution to Approve a One-Year Extension of the Contract with Washtenaw County for Police Dispatch Services ($928,930)

Memorandum

This resolution approves a one-year extension of the existing contract for services with Washtenaw County for the provision of City-wide dispatch services for law enforcement personnel.

 

The current contract expires on June 30, 2023.  This one-year extension is requested so that Washtenaw County and the City may continue to negotiate a longer-term contract for police dispatch services. 

 

Budget/Fiscal Impact:  The extension of this contract shall be $928,930 for FY 2024 for police dispatch services.  This shall be budgeted in the FY 2024 Police Department General Fund budget.

Whereas, The City currently utilizes the police dispatch services of Washtenaw County for their dispatching needs;

 

Whereas, The City recommends an extension of the existing contract so that further contract negotiations may occur without the contract expiring;

 

Whereas, The funding for the contract extension shall be budgeted in the FY 2024 Police Department General Fund budget;

 

RESOLVED, That City Council approve a contract with Washtenaw County for an extension of the contract for police dispatch services for the City of Ann Arbor for the period July 1, 2023 through June 30, 2024;

 

RESOLVED, That the Mayor and City Clerk be authorized and directed to execute the contract for services after approval as to substance by the City Administrator and approval as to form by the City Attorney; and

 

RESOLVED, That the City Administrator be authorized to take all necessary actions to implement this resolution.
