Memorandum
To obtain a charitable gaming license under Michigan law, a nonprofit organization is required to submit a resolution from its local governing body recognizing it as a community-based organization.

Temple Beth Emeth is a religious congregation affiliated with the Union for Reform Judaism. Their mission is to create a welcoming, loving, joyful, vibrant, and engaging Jewish community to gather and aspire to tikkun ha-nefesh (repair of self) and tikkun ha-olam (repair of the world).

Passage of the attached resolution will allow Temple Beth Emeth to hold a silent auction on March 4-5, 2023, at 2309 Packard St., Ann Arbor, MI 48104. Passage of this resolution is required in order to obtain final approval from the Charitable Gaming Division of the Bureau of State Lottery for this event and any future events.

Whereas, P.A. 382 of 1972, as amended, requires that local civic nonprofit organizations be recognized by resolution adopted by the local governmental subdivision in which the organization conducts its principal activities and that a copy of said resolution be filed with any application for a license to conduct a bingo, raffle or charity game(s);

Whereas, Temple Beth Emeth has requested that it be recognized as a nonprofit organization operating in the community for the purpose of obtaining a charitable gaming license; and

Whereas, Temple Beth Emeth is a local civic nonprofit organization as defined by P.A. 382 of 1972, as amended, which should be recognized as a religious congregation affiliated with the Union for Reform Judaism;
