Memorandum
The attached resolution provides for the appointment of Brian D. Steglitz, P.E., F.ASCE, as the City of Ann Arbor Public Services Area Administrator, effective January 10, 2023.
The City completed a nation-wide recruitment process which resulted in the selection of Mr. Steglitz. Pursuant to Section 12:1(b) of the Ann Arbor City Charter and Section 1:101 of the City's Municipal Code, the City's Public Services Area Administrator shall be appointed by the City Administrator with the advice and consent of the City Council.

Mr. Steglitz presently serves as the Interim Public Services Area Administrator and has served as the City's Water Treatment Services Unit Manager for more than seven (7) years prior to his current role. Mr. Steglitz has provided expert oversight of and education on water quality matters for many years. He comes to this position with 25 years of familiarity of the City's Public Services Area and intricate knowledge of its operations. Mr. Steglitz has a Master of Engineering and a Master of Science in Engineering in the specialization of Civil/Environmental Engineering from Stanford University and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Political Science from Yale University. Mr. Steglitz is a licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) and a Fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers (F.ASCE).

Given his superior qualifications and background, Milton Dohoney Jr., as the City Administrator, recommends Brian D. Steglitz, P.E., F.ASCE, be appointed as the Public Services Area Administrator.
