Title

An Ordinance to Amend Section 8:530 and Add Section 8:531 to Chapter 105 (Housing Code) of Title VIII of the Ann Arbor City Code - (Right to Renew and Relocation Assistance) (ORD-22-15)

Memorandum

The proposed amendment adds a section to Chapter 105 (Housing Code) which creates a new ordinance that requires landlords to renew to existing tenants, absent good cause, and mandates the payment of relocation assistance if a landlord fails to do so. It also defines the reasons for good cause and sets forth penalties and remedies for enforcement.

On August 10th, 2022, the Ann Arbor Renters Commission recommended that City Council approve the Ordinance.

Revised Version Update

A revised version of the proposed Ordinance was recommended by the Renter’s Commission on September 15 for consideration and approval by City Council.
