Resolution to Approve Street Closings for the Firecracker 5K - Monday, July 4, 2022

Memorandum

Attached for your consideration is a resolution to approve the closing of certain streets for the Firecracker 5K on July 4, 2022 from 4:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M.  The following streets will be closed from 4:00 to 11:00 A.M.:

 

                     Liberty from Main to State

                     Main from Liberty to Washington (already closed for Restaurant/Retail Closures)

                     Washington from Main to Fletcher

                     Fletcher from North University to East University

                     South University from East University to Tappan

                     Monroe Street from Tappan to State

                     State from Monroe to William

                     William from State to Thompson

                     Thompson from State to Liberty

                     State from Liberty to Washington

 

The sponsor, Epic Races, agrees to obtain all necessary permits, to provide evidence of proper liability insurance as required, to comply with all City regulations governing the use of the streets and will reimburse the City for all event expenses.

 

This event is held concurrently with the Ann Arbor Jaycees 4th of July Parade.  Notifications to impacted residents and businesses will be similar to the Parade which will include the City’s website, GovDelivery, the Ann Arbor Jaycees communication distributions, social media and the Epic Races website.

 

The event has been coordinated with all relevant City service areas for the purposes of traffic control and for the protection of the health and safety of the participants and the general public.

Whereas, the Sponsor, Epic Races, is requesting approval for the closing of the following streets from 4:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M.

Whereas, The street closures will be signed, barricaded and properly supervised;

 

Whereas, The sponsor agrees to obtain all necessary permits, to provide evidence of proper liability insurance as required, to comply with all City regulations governing the use of the streets and will reimburse the City for all event expenses; and

 

Whereas, Notification of the street closings will be provided through the City’s website, GovDelivery, the Ann Arbor Jaycees communication distributions, social media and the Epic Races website;

 

RESOLVED, That City Council approve the following street closings from 4:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. on Monday, July 4, 2022:

 

                     Liberty from Main to State
