Title

Resolution to Approve Street Closings for the 2022 Ann Arbor Jaycees Fourth of July Parade - Monday, July 4, 2022 from 8:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M.

Memorandum

Attached for your consideration is a resolution to approve the closing of certain streets for the 2022 Ann Arbor Jaycees Fourth of July Parade which follows the Firecracker 5K.  The following streets will be closed from 8:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. for staging and cleanup of the parade:

Fletcher from North University to Washington

Washington to Main

Main to William (where parade will end)

Organizers will ensure access to parking structures/lots along the route. The streets will open as soon as safely possible after the parade passes through.

The above route is different from previous years as this route avoids State Street construction due to occur during this time.  This will be the first occurrence of this parade since 2019, due to the pandemic cancellations.  Meetings have been held with the State Street District and Main Street Area Association representatives to ensure a smooth navigation of this route through the Retail and Restaurant Street Closures.

The applicant agrees to obtain all necessary permits, to provide evidence of proper liability insurance as required, and to comply with all City regulations governing the use of the streets and will reimburse the City for all event expenses.

Notification of the street closings will be provided through the City’s website, GovDelivery and through the Ann Arbor Jaycees communications distributions.

The event has been coordinated with all relevant City service areas for the purposes of traffic control and for the protection of the health and safety of the participants and the general public.
