Resolution to Approve Succession and Retention Agreement with Stephen K. Postema

Whereas, Stephen K. Postema has served the City as City Attorney since 2003, under an employment Agreement dated April 3, 2003;
Whereas, With his assistance, the City has planned and executed a careful succession plan;
Whereas, Attorney Atleen Kaur has accepted the position as City Attorney, to begin on April 11, 2022;
Whereas, This Succession and Retention Agreement with Stephen K. Postema will allow for a smooth succession and allow successor City Attorney Kaur (and any Acting City Attorney if applicable) access to any information and advice that she deems necessary;
Whereas, Stephen K. Postema is willing to assist the succession plan in this manner; and
Whereas, The Council Administration Committee approved generally this agreement on December 14, 2021 with instruction to bring to the Council at the January 3, 2021 meeting;
RESOLVED, The attached Succession and Retention Agreement is approved and the Mayor and City Clerk are authorized to sign the agreement.
