Resolution to Authorize Contract for Interim City Administrator

Whereas, On August 16, 2021, City Council approved Resolution R-21-327 directing the City Attorney to take steps to initiate a search for an external interim candidate for the position of City Administrator with the assistance of the recruitment firm GovHR;

 

Whereas, The search was initiated and several candidates were identified by GovHR and the City Attorney who were considered by the Council Administration Committee;

 

Whereas, On September 7, the Council Administration Committee voted to submit two candidates, Peter T. Burchard and Milton Dohoney Jr., to the entire City Council for consideration;

 

Whereas, On September 13, 2021, the City Council by Resolution R-21-352 directed the evaluation of the two finalist candidates through an evaluation process;

 

Whereas, On September 30, 2021, The City Council authorized Mayor Christopher Taylor, with the assistance of the City Attorney, to negotiate a proposed contract with Mr. Milton Dohoney, Jr. to serve as the Interim City Administrator, with the approval of the final contract by resolution of the City Council at a regular or special meeting of the City Council as soon as possible, but no later than October 18, 2021;

 

Whereas, The Council Administration unanimously authorized the general form of the contract attached to be forwarded to the City Council for approval; and

 

Whereas, One addition was made to comply with the City's benefit plan;

 

RESOLVED, That Mr. Fournier’s appointment as Acting City Administrator conclude at midnight on October 17, 2021, wherein he returns to his position as Assistant City Administrator;

 

RESOLVED, The City Council authorizes the attached contract with Milton Dohoney, Jr. to begin as Interim City Administrator on October 18, 2021, and authorizes the Mayor, City Attorney, and the City Clerk to sign the contract.
