Resolution to Direct the Ann Arbor Public Art Commission to Establish a Project Plan to Redesign the City of Ann Arbor City Flag
Memorandum
Whereas, It is recognized that a municipal flag should meet a number of attributes to be recognized as representing a municipality;
Whereas, The attributes would include; simplicity of design, symbolize the community, use a minimal number of colors, include no text or seals and be unique in its design; and
Whereas, The current Ann Arbor City Flag does not meet a number of these necessary attributes.
RESOLVED, That City Council direct the Ann Arbor Public Art Commission to move forward to develop a project plan to design a new City Flag to replace the existing flag.
The project plan should include an outline of the public engagement process to be used, schedule, and funding necessary to execute this project.
