Resolution Recognizing Building Up: Partnering in Health and Wholeness as a Civic Nonprofit Organization Operating in Ann Arbor for the Purpose of Obtaining a Charitable Gaming License
Memorandum
To obtain a charitable gaming license under Michigan Law, a nonprofit organization is required to submit a resolution from its local governing body recognizing it as a community-based organization.

Building Up: Partnering in Health and Wholeness, submitted the required paperwork to the Internal Revenue Service in November of 2020, and is currently awaiting the determination of non-profit status; they have however filed all the required paperwork to be listed as a charitable entity with the Michigan Department of Attorney General. Their mission is to secure and connect resources with local and global entities to develop sustainable healthcare, wellness and educational programs. The organization's first project is to raise funds to build a medical clinic in Sayyi, Uganda.

Passage of the attached resolution will allow Building Up: Partnering in Health and Wholeness to hold a raffle in the spring of 2021. Passage of this resolution is required to obtain final approval from the Charitable Gaming Division of the Bureau of State Lottery for this event and any future events.
