Attached for your review and approval, please find a resolution that approves a construction contract between Z Contractors, Inc. and the City of Ann Arbor in the amount of $1,042,460.77 for the City of Ann Arbor Bridge Capital Preventative Maintenance Repair Project.
This project consists of performing capital preventative maintenance repairs on several City of Ann Arbor bridges. Capital Preventative Maintenance repairs are work that is considered more than normal operations and maintenance work that would be performed by the City's Public Works forces. The planned work includes repairs to the Fuller Road bridges over the Huron River; the Island Drive bridge over Traver Creek; the Broadway Bridges over the Wolverine Line and Depot Street, and the Huron River; and, repair of the northerly railing attachment points of the Maiden Lane Bridge over the Huron River.
More specifically, the repairs to the Fuller Road bridge over the Huron River include chipping and patching deteriorated portions of the barrier wall; installing an epoxy overlay on the bridge decks; repairing the rip-rap along the west bank of the river; and, other minor items. These bridges were originally constructed in 1993 and 1994. Work to be performed on the Island Drive bridge over the Traver Creek primarily includes the placement of a concrete wearing course on the existing pre-stressed concrete box beams; replacement of the barrier railing; repairs to the cast-in-place concrete channel lining; and the installation of two storm sewer inlets to facilitate drainage due to the placement of the concrete wearing course.
