Resolution to Rename Rose White Park Graydon Park in Honor of Graydon Krapohl

Whereas, Rose White Park, located in Ann Arbor, is a 1.12-acre park owned and managed by the City of Ann Arbor;
Whereas, The Park is a series of triangular parcels and derives its name from its location at the intersection of Rose Avenue and White Street;
Whereas, Graydon Krapohl was an Infantry Officer in the United States Marine Corps who retired as a Colonel, a former Ann Arbor City Council member, a Parks Advisory Commission member, an advocate for the care and maintenance of our city parks, and a caring neighbor dedicated to community service;
Whereas, Graydon Krapohl passed away in April of 2020 after an extensive battle with cancer;
Whereas, An opportunity to commemorate and celebrate the life of Graydon Krapohl as an admired leader and caring community member was presented to the Parks Advisory Commission at their August 2020 meeting of the City of Ann Arbor by the neighbors surrounding Rose White Park; and
Whereas, The Parks Advisory Commission recommended that Mayor and the Ann Arbor City Council officially rename Rose White Park to Graydon Park at their September 15, 2020 meeting;
RESOLVED, That the Mayor and Council approve renaming Rose White Park to Graydon Park, in honor of Graydon Krapohl.
