Resolution Terminating the Mayor’s Declaration of a Local State of Emergency in Response to COVID-19

Body

Whereas, On March 10, 2020, the City of Ann Arbor enacted a partial activation of its Emergency Operations Center to concentrate planning efforts in response to the Covid-19 virus pandemic;

 

Whereas, On March 17, 2020 the City declared a Local State of Emergency;

 

Whereas, Since that time, the emergency has been dealt with to the extent that the impact of COVID-19 on the citizens and employees of the City has lessened;

 

Whereas, The Center for Disease Control, the Governor’s Office of the State of Michigan, and the Washtenaw County Health Department have effectively increased and implemented testing and contact tracing programs in the State of Michigan;

 

Whereas, These organizations have also disseminated effective PPE and Social Distancing directives for citizens, businesses, and the workplace;

 

Whereas, Because of these measures, the number of people contracting Covid-19 continues to decrease in the State of Michigan; and

 

Whereas, Hospital bed capacities are returning to normal levels, and PPE supplies are being replenished;

 

RESOLVED, That City Council hereby terminates the local state of emergency effective immediately in accordance with Chapter 15, Section 1:327(3); and

 

RESOLVED, That the City Clerk shall provide a copy of this resolution to the Michigan State Police and the District 2 South Emergency Management and Homeland Security Division Coordinator.
