Resolution Recognizing Ann Arbor Youth Football and Cheer Association as a Civic Nonprofit Organization Operating in Ann Arbor for the Purpose of Obtaining a Charitable Gaming License
Memorandum
To obtain a charitable gaming license under Michigan law, a nonprofit organization is required to submit a resolution from its local governing body recognizing it as a community-based organization.
Ann Arbor Youth Football and Cheer Association is a 501(c)3 civic nonprofit organization that creates a positive team sport experience for Washtenaw County Youth to learn the fundamentals of tackle football and cheer in a safe, positive environment. The program’s core values of teamwork and sportsmanship are reinforced through modeling life skills of goal setting, responsibility, self-control, leadership and perseverance.
Passage of the attached resolution will allow the Ann Arbor Youth Football and Cheer Association to hold a raffle at Skyline High School, located at 2552 N. Maple Road. Passage of this resolution is required in order to obtain final approval from the Charitable Gaming Division of the Bureau of State Lottery for this event and any future events.

Whereas, P.A. 382 of 1972, as amended, requires that local civic nonprofit organizations be recognized by resolution adopted by the local governmental subdivision in which the organization conducts its principal activities and that a copy of said resolution be filed with any application for a license to conduct a bingo, raffle or charity game(s);
Whereas, Ann Arbor Youth Football and Cheer Association has requested that it be recognized as a nonprofit organization operating in the community for the purpose of obtaining a charitable gaming license; and
Whereas, Ann Arbor Youth Football and Cheer Association is a local civic nonprofit organization as defined by P.A. 382 of 1972, as amended, which should be recognized for its focus on teamwork and sportsmanship, reinforced through modeling life skills of goal setting, responsibility, self-control, leadership and perseverance.
RESOLVED, That City Council hereby approve recognition of the Ann Arbor Youth Football and Cheer Association as a local civic nonprofit organization operating in the Ann Arbor community for the purposes of its charitable gaming license application as required by P.A. 382 of 1972, as amended; and
RESOLVED, That the City Clerk be directed to provide a certified copy of this Resolution to Ann Arbor Youth Football and Cheer Association and to take all necessary administrative actions to provide notice of this Resolution to the Charitable Gaming Division, Michigan Department of Treasury.
