Resolution to Waive Fees Associated with Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) Request 2147

Councilmember Jeff Hayner submitted FOIA Request 2147 on July 11, 2019. FOIA 2147 requests all email correspondence to and from Mayor Christopher Taylor for the period of June 16 to July 8, 2019. Staff estimated the cost to the requester to assemble these documents at $217. Councilmembers have determined that providing this information serves the public interest, and that the fees associated with the effort to assemble these documents should be waived.

The unrecovered cost to the City is estimated at $217.

Whereas, Councilmember Jeff Hayner has submitted FOIA Request 2147, which will require staff effort estimated at a cost $217.32; and
Whereas, The City Council believes in this specific instance the public interest is best served by waiving the City’s ability to recover its costs;
RESOLVED, That City Council directs that the fees associated with FOIA Request 2147 be waived.
