Resolution Authorizing the Execution of a Five Year Municipal Trunk Line Maintenance Contract between the City of Ann Arbor and the State of Michigan Department of Transportation
Memorandum
This is to recommend that the attached resolution authorizing the City of Ann Arbor to enter into a five year contract with the State of Michigan for the maintenance of the State’s trunk line highways throughout the City be approved. The trunk lines are North Main, Huron, Jackson, and Washtenaw from Huron to the east City Limit.
Maintenance activities are performed by the Public Services Area, Field Operations Unit and include maintenance of streets, signs and signals, storm sewers, and vegetation. Both revenues and expenditures are budgeted and incurred in the Public Services Area Major Street Fund with reimbursements to the other funds that may provide services.
During fiscal year 2009 approximately $150,000.00 was expended on trunk line maintenance. The State of Michigan promptly reimburses the City for these expenditures.
This agreement will replace a similar agreement, which expires on September 30, 2009. The amount of the contract is adjusted each year after consultation between the City and the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) and will not exceed $170,000.00 in FY 2010.
