Resolution to Approve the Purchase of a Dehumidification Unit from BMIL Technologies, LLC in the Amount of $136,874.00 for Veterans Memorial Park Ice Rink per Bid #4017
Memorandum
Attached for your review and action is a resolution to approve the purchase of a dehumidification unit from BMIL Technologies in the amount of $136,874.00, per bid #4017. This purchase is part of a more extensive project that will include the installation of the unit, a fire suppression system, and renovation of locker rooms. The unit is being purchased prior to the remainder of the project elements to accommodate the long lead time for fabrication and delivery and to assure that the ice arena facility opens on schedule in September. The budget for the entire project is $550,000.00 including design and engineering fees.

Bids were advertised on the City's website and on BidNET and sent to qualified manufacturers. Three companies submitted bids for the project as follows:

Johnson Controls, Inc. - $117,861.00
BMIL Technologies, LLC* - $136,874.00
NIX Contracting, LLC - $148,759.00
*Lowest responsible bidder

The controls that were specified for the dehumidifier were not included in the bid, and proposed sound level was above what was specified, which is important because the unit will be located inside the ice arena. Therefore, BMIL Technologies was the lowest responsible bidder. This bid was within the estimated dollar amount for the unit.

BMIL Technologies, LLC received Human Rights approval on April 14, 2009. The contractor complies with the living and prevailing wage ordinance.

Funding for this project is included in the approved FY 09 Park Rehabilitation and Development Millage Budget which has been carr...
