Resolution to Accept a Fair Food Network Grant for the Ann Arbor Farmers Market for $45,000.00 and Appropriate Funds (8 Votes Required)
Memorandum
Attached for your review and action is a resolution to approve an agreement with
Fair Food Network (FFN) to administer the Double Up Food Bucks (DUFB) program at the Ann Arbor Farmers Market and to accept and appropriate a total of $45,000.00 in funding into the Major Grants Fund.

DUFB is a national project providing incentives to encourage healthier food choices for food stamp (SNAP) recipients, directly benefitting low-income families and local farmers in Michigan and working to impact future food and nutrition policy. The DUFB program provides a match of up to $20/person/day for those customers using SNAP (Bridge Cards/EBT/Food Stamps) to purchase Michigan grown fruits and vegetables at farmers markets across Michigan.

Participation in this program relates closely to multiple Sustainability Goals:

? Engaged Community
? Human Services
? Economic Vitality
? Local Food

Since 2010, the City of Ann Arbor has received grant funding from the FFN to administer the DUFB program at the Ann Arbor Farmers Market. This grant provides a total of $45,000.00 to the City of Ann Arbor to administer the Double Food Bucks program. PAC recommended acceptance of this grant at their June 18, 2019 meeting.
