Title
Resolution to Approve Street Closings for the "Dancing in the Streets" Special Event - September 1, 2019
Memorandum
Attached for your review and approval is a request from the Ann Arbor Council for Traditional Music and Dance (AACTMAD) to close South Main Street between Huron Street and Liberty Street, and Washington Street between South Ashley Street and the alley on East Washington toward South Fourth Avenue from 12:00 Noon to 7:30 P.M. on Sunday, September 1, 2019 for the "Dancing in the Streets" special event. The event itself is scheduled to run from 1:30 P.M. to 6:30 P.M. with additional time used for event setup and cleanup. Live music will be performed during this time.

The street area will also be closed during the event for other activities including musical entertainment, however, the Washington Street parking structure and alley between South Main Street and South Fourth Avenue will be open and accessible during the event.

The sponsor agrees to obtain all necessary permits, to provide evidence of proper liability insurance as required, to comply with all City regulations governing the use of the streets and will reimburse the City for all event expenses.

This event has been a part of Ann Arbor's entertainment calendar since 1998 and has been extremely popular and successful in the community. Notification of the street closings will be provided not only through the City's website and GovDelivery, but also through contact by AACTMAD to the impacted residents and businesses.

This event has been coordinated with all relevant City service units for the purposes of control and for the protection of the health and safety of the participants and general public.
