Resolution to Appoint Michael Pettigrew as the City of Ann Arbor Interim City Treasurer
Memorandum
The attached resolution provides for the appointment of Michael Pettigrew as the Ann Arbor Interim City Treasurer, effective July 10, 2019.

Mr. Pettigrew is currently serving as the Deputy Treasurer (Assistant Treasury Services Manager) for the City of Ann Arbor. During the completion of the recruitment process related to the retirement of Treasurer Matthew Horning, Mr. Pettigrew is recommended to serve as the Interim Treasurer. Mr. Pettigrew has served the City of Ann Arbor with distinction since he started working as the Deputy Treasurer in September 2008. Prior to his hire in Ann Arbor, he served the Washtenaw County's Treasurers Office in various roles for approximately seven years.

Mr. Pettigrew is recommended to serve in this capacity until the permanent City Treasurer is appointed.

Whereas, Matthew Horning, City Treasurer will resign his position at the close of business on July 9, 2019;

Whereas, Michael Pettigrew is currently employed by the City of Ann Arbor as Deputy Treasurer;

Whereas, Section 12:1(b) of the Ann Arbor City Charter provides that the City Treasurer shall be appointed by the City Council on recommendation of the City Administrator;

Whereas, Michael Pettigrew is highly qualified to serve Ann Arbor's Interim City Treasurer; and

Whereas, The City Administrator prepared this resolution and hereby gives his recommendation to City Council that Mr. Pettigrew be appointed as the Interim City Treasurer until such time as the new City Treasurer is appointed and sworn in.

RESOLVED, That City Council hereby directs the City Clerk to accept Mr. Horning's resignation, due to retirement from office, at the close of business on July 9, 2019; and
