Resolution to Approve Street Closure of Washington Street between State and Fletcher for the University of Michigan Center for Campus Involvement’s Festifall Event on Friday, September 6, 2019 from 5:00 AM until 11:00 PM
Memorandum
The attached resolution is requesting approval to close Washington Street between State and Fletcher for the University of Michigan Center for Campus Involvement’s Festifall Event on Friday, September 6, 2019 from 5:00 AM until 11:00 PM. This will be the second year for this event. As is the practice of the Ann Arbor City Police, they are denying this request based on it being a home game weekend. The Center is working with the University of Michigan police. There will be live musical performances at this event during the hours of 1:00 PM until 6:00 PM. The remaining time will be used for presentations, set-up and breakdown. The entire community is invited to participate. As such, the event site and common spaces will be accessible to normal, public pedestrian and emergency traffic.
Notification of the street closure will be through the City’s website and GovDelivery, press releases and resources through the University of Michigan no later than one week prior to the event.
The sponsor agrees to obtain all necessary permits, to provide evidence of proper liability insurance as required, to comply with all City and state regulations governing the use of the streets, and will reimburse the City for all event expenses.

Whereas, The City has received a request from the University of Michigan University of Michigan Center for Campus Involvement’s to hold the Festifall Event;
Whereas, It is necessary to close Washington Street between State and Fletcher on Friday, September 6, 2019 from 5:00 AM until 11:00 PM;
Whereas, The sponsor agrees to obtain all necessary permits, to provide evidence of proper liability insurance as required, to comply with all City and state regulations governing the use of the streets, and will reimburse the City for all event expenses; and
Whereas, Notification of the street closing will be through the City’s website as well as press releases and resources through the University of Michigan.
RESOLVED, That City Council approves the closing of Washington Street between State and Fletcher on Friday, September 6, 2019 from 5:00 AM until 11:00 PM for the Festifall event.
