Resolution to Close Ashley and South 1st Streets between Huron and Washington for the Treeverb Music Festival on Saturday, June 1, 2019 from 6:00 AM until Midnight
Memorandum
Attached for your consideration is a resolution to approve the closing of Ashley and South 1st Streets between Huron and Washington for the Treeverb Music Festival on Saturday, June 1, 2019 from 6:00 AM until Midnight. This new event will serve as the first annual Music Festival and will be held in the Ann Arbor Brown Lot. The request to close streets is to accommodate the safety of large crowds that may spill onto the streets. Treeverb expects attendance of approximately 1000 people of all ages. The applicant, First Martin and Bank of Ann Arbor's goal is to have a strong national visibility with an enormous draw of both local and regional audiences. This event has the approval of the Main Street Area Association. The applicant is also collaborating with businesses surrounding the area to provide opportunities to join in the festivities.

The timing of the event is such that it will serve as an introduction to the Taste of Ann Arbor Festival which will occur on June 2. There will be a beer tent and, as such, the applicant will submit an application for approval from the State of Michigan Liquor Control Commission for temporary sales, service and consumption of alcoholic beverages in the defined areas pursuant to the M.L.C.C. regulations. One hundred percent of the beer tent proceeds will be donated to yet to be determined local charities.

The applicant agrees to obtain all necessary permits, to provide evidence of proper liability insurance as required, to comply with all City regulations governing the use of the street and will reimburse the City for all event expenses.

Notification of the closing will be provided through the City's website, GovDelivery, and applicant contact with impacted businesses.
