PROCLAMATION

Honoring City of Ann Arbor Employees:

Kelsey LaHaye, Kayla Auer, Gabby Peck, Bill Meeks & Josh Landefeld,

USAA Hockey referee Paul Krolick, and Ann Arbor recreational hockey league players: Matt Kennison, David Goyer and Robert Garcia

 

WHEREAS,                     The City of Ann Arbor hosts myriad recreational sports leagues at our various facilities, which are enjoyed by residents and non-residents alike on a daily basis; and

 

WHEREAS,                      The safe enjoyment of our public spaces is a top priority for our dedicated parks staff, who engage in basic emergency medical training so they may provide support to patrons in need should events call for it; and

 

WHEREAS,                      On Saturday, January 12th, 2019, Eddie Kulczycki was playing in one of the City’s recreational hockey leagues and experienced a medical emergency that rendered him unconscious during game play; and

 

WHEREAS,                      City of Ann Arbor employees Kelsey LaHaye, Kayla Auer, Gabby Peck, as well as USAA Hockey referee Paul Krolick, were able to provide emergency medical attention to Mr. Kulczycki, while their efforts were joined by recreational hockey league players Matt Kennison, David Goyer and Robert Garcia, and supported by Josh Landefeld and Bill Meeks; and

 

WHEREAS,                     The quick decision making actions taken by this group of individuals may very well have saved Mr. Kulczycki’s life; and

 

WHEREAS,                     Their actions are not only a testament to the character of the Ann Arbor community, but also to the high quality of training and the dedication demonstrated by our Parks and Recreation staff on a regular basis.

 

NOW THEREFORE, I, Christopher Taylor, Mayor of Ann Arbor, Michigan, do hereby commend City of Ann Arbor employees Kelsey LaHaye, Kalya Auer, Gabby Peck, Bill Meeks and Josh Landefeld, USAA Hockey referee Paul Krolick, and Ann Arbor Recreational league players Matt Kennison, David Goyer and Robert Garcia for their quick intervention and decisive actions that helped save the life of Mr. Eddie Kulczycki on Saturday, January 12th, 2019.
