Resolution to Recommend That City Council Approve the City Become a Constituent Member of the Washtenaw Regional Resource Management Authority (WRRMA)
Body
Whereas, In 2017 Washtenaw County amended its Solid Waste Plan which includes a goal to operate collaboratively within the County and regionally outside of the County for a comprehensive sustainable materials management strategy;
Whereas, The City of Ann Arbor participated on the Authority Formation Committee facilitated by Washtenaw County Public Works that developed Articles of Incorporation of the Washtenaw Regional Resource Management Authority (WRRMA);
Whereas, Washtenaw County Public Works is participating in the City’s Solid Waste Resources Management Plan (SWRMP) as a member of the project’s Advisory Committee;
Whereas, The City’s SWRMP process is aware of, and factoring in the status of WRRMA’s formation in development of its recommendations; and,
Whereas, On January 24, 2019 Washtenaw County Public Works presented the Environmental Commission with background and information on WRRMA.
RESOLVED, That the Environmental Commission is supportive of the City participating in a regional approach to materials management strategies; and
RESOLVED, That the Environmental Commission recommends that the City of Ann Arbor becomes a Constituent Member of WRRMA.
