Memorandum
Attached for your approval is a resolution to appropriate and establish a project budget within the Field Operations Unit, Forestry section to plant trees with the funds paid to the City as part of the tree mitigation fees for the Courtyards Student Housing development.
As part of the development agreement, Allen and O’Hara Development Company, LLC., agreed to pay the City tree mitigation fees. The tree mitigation fees will be used to fund the City’s street tree replanting program.
Upon receipt, the tree mitigation fees were placed in the Field Operations Unit’s Forestry section’s general fund revenue budget. This resolution will establish a project account to allow the funds to be used during each planting season over three fiscal years. Trees will be planted at various locations to replace trees that were removed and identified to be replaced as part of the management plan to restore the City’s tree canopy.
