Resolution to Approve a Lease Agreement between the City and Solo Aviation Inc. for Office Space Located at the Ann Arbor Municipal Airport (8 Votes Required)
Memorandum
Attached for your consideration is a resolution to approve a Lease Agreement between the City and Solo Aviation Inc. for office and parking spaces at the airport terminal building, located at 801 Airport Drive.

Solo Aviation has leased office and parking spaces at the terminal building since 2004 and their current lease expired June 30, 2018. The proposed lease agreement is for an initial ten year term with a five year Lessee option.

Solo Aviation is a fixed base operator at the airport and provides fueling, aircraft repair and maintenance, pilot training, aircraft rental, pilot courtesy car and other aviation support operations. They also provide a seven day a week presence in the terminal building and handle basic lawn and snow removal services at this location. The parking space they rent is on the terminal ramp for their fueling trucks.

Lease rates are consistent with current rates being charged at the Ann Arbor Airport. Like all airport land and office leases, the rate is subject to an annual CPI based adjustment. Through our grant assurances, the Federal Aviation Administration requires that comparable rates be charged for comparable spaces at the airport.

The Airport Advisory Committee has been apprised of the proposed Agreement and recommends its approval by Council.
