An Ordinance to Amend Section 1:207 of Chapter 8 (Organization of Boards and Commissions) and to Repeal Chapter 85 (Taxicabs) of the Code of the City of Ann Arbor (Ordinance No. ORD-18-23)
Memorandum
The purpose of the proposed code amendments to section 1:207 is to provide clarification of roles aligning the Commission representatives with the updated City of Ann Arbor organizational structure.
Based on restructuring of the Systems Planning Unit and Engineering, the new Transportation Manager position oversees the City Traffic Engineers and Transportation Planner. As such, the Transportation Manager can appropriately fill the role of the City Traffic Engineer and representative of the City Systems Planning Unit on the Transportation Commission. City Traffic Engineers, Transportation Planner and other staff will continue to attend meetings as needed.
The existing language requesting an annual report from the Commission on the "effectiveness of the City's transportation strategy process" can be more clearly defined as providing a report of Commission activities.
In addition, as taxicab licenses are now regulated by the State of Michigan, Chapter 85 of the City Code is being repealed.
