Resolution to Approve Purchase of VMware Licensing and Support from CDW Government LLC ($83,743.73)
Memorandum
The attached resolution seeks authorization to renew VMware licensing while upgrading the product suite to the Enterprise Plus level with new VMware products (vRealize Operations). This is also a three-year extension of software maintenance and technical support. This will be payable for FY2019 in the amount of $83,743.73 to CDW Government LLC, subject to annual budget approvals, which will consist of $18,795.41 for the licensing upgrade purchase. Software maintenance and technical support costs $64,948.32, covering FY2019, FY2020, and FY2021 at $21,649.44 each.

Fiscal/Budget Impact: This expenditure is planned for and budgeted in the FY2019 Information Technology Services Fund budget, with plans to budget for it in the FY2020 and FY2021 Information Technology Services Fund budgets.

The City of Ann Arbor received this quote through MiDEAL.

This purchase seeks to provide added functionality to allow Information Technology to better manage and optimize the City's VMware computing infrastructure that hosts most City services. This also provides necessary maintenance and tech support through FY2021.

The City has already entered into a Product Sales and Service Projects Agreement with CDW Government LLC (dated May 8, 2018) and the terms of that Agreement will apply to the proposed transactions.
